Flynn Energy & Propane Hosts 6th Annual Veterans Appreciation Day

Wysox, PA (Nov. 8, 2019) — an oversized Olde Glory, waving proudly at the peak of a fire truck ladder, signaled the beginning of the sixth annual veterans appreciation day sponsored by Flynn Energy.

Last year brought rain and sleet. This year, the sun shone proudly through the stars and stripes for one of the best events of the year at Flynn Beverage in Wysox.

“I think this is an event we all look forward to as staff,” Flynn propane manager and Navy veteran Shawn Sullivan said. “It’s a chance, like many of our other events, to see our AM Vet friends, community members, and honor our country. This is why we continue to do this event every year.”

The event kicked off with a 21 gun salute performed proudly by local AM veterans, after which EJ Flynn gave a short speech, thanked his many employees with veteran status, and recited a patriotic-themed poem.

Everyone then gathered indoors for hot dogs and chili from Oliver’s Pub, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Flynn’s veterans event is the third of three annual events organized by the fuel company. In April, hundreds gathered for the annual customer appreciation pancake breakfast. In June, hundreds more made their way to Towanda Country Club for Flynn’s annual charity golf tournament, raising more than $18,000 for a local in need. Over the years Flynn Energy & Propane has raised over $140,000 for various charities and people in need.

“This event is something special every year,” Flynn owner EJ Flynn said nearing the end of the event. “The giant flag brought by Towanda Fire Co., the (gun) salute, everything; it was a great day to hold our veterans event.”
